History
The City of San Luis Obispo first acquired a conservation easement on Guidetti Ranch reducing development and controlling agricultural operations. Between two agreements in 1996 and 2000, a conservation agreement was negotiated for the 1,400-acre ranch. Later,
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) purchased the remaining development rights, preserving the ranch in its entirety. TNC has protected 19,000 acres of valuable San Luis Obispo County lands, including 1,000 acres in the Irish Hills region, at Cambria Coast Ranch, the City of SLO’s acquisition of Foster Ranch, 14,300-acre South Chimineas Ranch, and Guidetti Ranch.
