CCA Workshop explores local power

CCA could provide incentives for production of local renewable energy

Approximately 50 local government leaders, county administrators, and other concerned citizens attended an informational workshop on Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) on Friday, November 30, 2007. CCA allows cities and counties, or groups of them, to supply electricity to customers within their borders. In many cases, providing a higher percentage of renewable energy at or below major utility rates. Speakers at the workshop included Patrick Stoner of the Local Government Commission, Carlos Velasquez of the California Public Utilities Commission, Kirby Dusel of Navigant Consulting, Tam Hunt from the Community Environmental Council, and Larry Allen from the Air Pollution Control District.
