Going Green 101: What Your Family Can Do Today! (The Oprah Winfrey Show)

Today’s Oprah is all about living green. Learn how to change the way you live and the simple things you can do to make a difference. Oprah will interview Sheryl Crow and Matt Damon on “why it's cool to be green.” Learn how going green a part of your family's daily life with help from the products, resources and ideas exhibited on the show, from grocery choices and recycling to a Oprah’s "lightbulb moment.” Reduce, recycle and go organic. The segment on eco-friendly products features the company, ECO BAGS, who recently donated 10 reusable bags to our upcoming scooter raffle and who supplies us with our soon-to-be-printed canvas totes. The Oprah Winfrey Show airs at 4pm on NBC in San Luis Obispo; check your local listings.

PLANET EARTH Screenings in San Luis Obispo

Celebrate Earth Day by seeing PLANET EARTH Parts 1 & 2 Friday, April 20 and Parts 3 & 4 Saturday, April 21, both at 7pm at the San Luis Obispo public library on the corner of Osos and Palm Streets. HopeDance Films presents the BBC production of planet earth a stunning epic travelogue that combines rare action, unimaginable scale, impossible locations and intimate moments with our planet's best-loved, wildest and most elusive creatures. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough and filmed across 200 world-wide locations, the cameramen of PLANET EARTH endured some of the world’s most hostile environments. The series takes you on an unforgettable journey through the challenging seasons and the daily struggle for survival in Earth's most extreme habitats. Earth Day in Mission Plaza

The 18th Annual Earth Day Fair & Festival is tomorrow, Saturday, April 21, from 10 am to 4pm, at Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo. This FREE annual event offers education and celebration in a fair like atmosphere. Featuring 30 exhibitors, a green car show, a tour of the environment for kids, and complimentary health care services for the body, mind, and spirit with many free giveaways.

The ECOSLO booth will highlight our Community School Garden Program, with plants available for purchase, and we will have petitions and information available on local and national issues. Earth Day is also the first day of our eGO electric scooter raffle, featuring Gumby! Stop by the ECOSLO booth to see an eGO and enter to win. The Enviro-Gumby bike will be unveiled in early May, with the raffle drawing this summer. Support ECOSLO and get a chance to win an energy efficient, practical and fun new ride, generously donated by Scott O’Keefe, the owner of SLO eGO. Great entertainment will be featured on the Earth Day Stage, including Lily Diamond, Calinambe “World Fusion” Tim (Timo) Beckwith, Johnee Gange & Rob Strom. Craig Nuttycombe the Planetorial Janitor and Peter Yelda; Native Wind, Debra Windsong & Michael Hocking, the poetry of Dian Sousa and Kevin Patrick Sullivan and a few surprises.
