Communications Assistant

Position Description
The Communications Assistant is responsible for maintaining various communication systems to achieve organizational goals, including membership services, media relations, and public outreach as directed by ECOSLO staff. The Communications Assistant works under the supervision of the Office Coordinator.

Responsibilities
•    Write articles about environmental issues, membership profiles, and ECOSLO activities for various publications as directed
•    Distribute press releases, post events to community calendars, and conduct other online outreach methods
•    Assist with planning and execution of outreach events
•    Other administrative tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications
•    Currently enrolled student working towards a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field
•    Exceptional writing skills
•    Highly motivated and capable of working without direct supervision
•    Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
•    Personal commitment to preserving the natural environment
•    Website publishing experience preferred, but not required

Position Type: Internship
Compensation: Unpaid
Duration: At least one quarter/semester (2-3 months)
Hours: 10-20 per week
