Coastal Cleanup Day Intern
Coastal Cleanup Day, the third Saturday of every September, is an international event dedicated to cleaning up beaches and waterways around the world. Every year, ECOSLO partners with the California Coastal Commission to coordinate beach cleanups on this day in San Luis Obispo County. Last year alone, over 1,300 volunteers removed nearly 5,000 pounds of marine debris from 26 local beaches.
Position Description
The Coastal Cleanup Day Intern will work closely with staff and volunteers to help organize this important annual event. Primary duties will include volunteer outreach and management. Other duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled student with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- Highly motivated and capable of working independently to achieve goals.
- Experience coordinating volunteers and performing outreach to a diverse audience.
- Knowledge of or interest in learning about water quality, marine debris and other related environmental issues.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Hours: 10-20 per week
